In 2016, Mattel and Sur La Table partnered up for a special children’s cooking class featuring Barbie as part of the You Can Be Anything marketing campaign. I was asked to work with Mattel’s marketing team to design and code an email campaign advertising the class, as well as matching social media banners.

The You Can Be Anything campaign featured loud, vibrant colors and a playful mix of photography and illustration. We needed to incorporate this into our collaborated designs, yet still keep an overall feel of the Sur La Table branding. It was a merger of two completely different visual languages.
Email Design
The main goal of this email design was to catch the customers eye with a bright and childlike design, and then of course get our customer interested enough to click through to the landing page and register their children for this special cooking class.
I chose to work with only a select few of the colors from the Mattel palette, as Sur La Table branding is usually much more subdue. I worked with their primary pink as well as an accent of their pastel teal, then mixed in a fun patterned background and a simple line-art illustration. We stuck with Sur La Table’s font suite, except for the You Can Be logo mark over the photography.
Social Media Banners
For the social media assets, I chose a more simplistic route, focusing on the photography paired with the campaign copy and logo overlay.
